Lewis Hamilton had another dissapointing day at Austria GP that yielded eighth place – a gain of one position from his starting spot – and a solitary point after he spent most of the time staring at the back of Mick Schumacher‘s Haas, having suffered contact with Pierre Gasly at the start – and then with a Red Bull and Williams further up the hill.
Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes driver:
“I don’t understand these drivers. Just like moving across, I don’t know if they know they’re moving across, but it was just unnecessary. He had so much space on his right. So that’s uinfortunate for sure and I got some sort of damage there. I don’t know exactly what but it was a big hit to my front and I’m just greatful I could continue and then I got another one further up, by the Williams and the Red Bull did the same thing. Schesh.”
Pierre Gasly, AlphaTauri driver:
“Extremely disappointed. We started in the top 10 and then before the first corner it was already over.”
Mick Schumacher, Haas driver:
“I think that the fight with Lewis (Hamilton) was quite fun. I think we … it was surprising to see that we were able to fight him that long. Also the Red Bull behind us wasn’t massively quicker. It was a nice feeling.”
